Many play dough mats on the market have specific outlines and shapes to create, which serve a great purpose for fine motor skills, shape recognition, etc. Ours are a bit different, being open-ended and contextual, providing a visually rich backdrop that invites kids to come up with what they’ll create. It still develops fine motor skills, but also provides open-ended opportunity for narration and imagination.
HOW TO USE THIS DIGITAL DOWNLOAD PRODUCT:
Each mat prints to a full landscape 11×8.5 page.
Print option: Print and laminate or insert into clear page protector. Lay flat or prop up for a backdrop.
Digital option: Display a scene on a tablet, computer, or tv as a backdrop.
Invite kids to sculpt something with play dough to go in front of or on top of the scene…and see where their imagination takes them! Combine two or more scenes for an added twist.
Optional add-on: Invite kids to tell you (or each other) a story about the scene. Write it down for them, and invite them to illustrate their story on the page. Snap a picture of their play dough creation when they’re done to help ease the process of putting things away
